Should I Buy This?
AD just called and told me he had this in stock:
https://www.omegawatches.com/watch-o...3410392001001/ I'm not all that familiar with Omega, but I do know the overwhelming majority can be had second hand at a massive discount. I like the looks of this watch, but not interested in taking a bath. Can anyone provide advice please? |

This is one of the few that can’t be had for a massive discount at the moment.

He told me they only made 3,557 of these and it says the same on Omega's site. I think these are mostly sold out in the store with a few stragglers still hanging around. If I bought this off him, and tried to flip it, would I lose money? All I'm really looking for is a break even. |

Only found 1 on this forum, 3 on Ebay, and 2 on Chrono24 from US sellers...
I've got very minimal frame of reference on this piece. |

The 60th anniversary RM and SM have been pretty popular. However, these models can still be found with a little looking from ADs and OBs. I think the Speedy 60th is the only one in the trilogy which is sold out.
I've handled them and find them to be attractive and well built. Only reason I didn't pull the trigger on one (or more) is their size is smaller than my preference. They haven't been out long enough to get a really good feel on resale. However, current trends look like the SM and Speedy are trending at a slight premium on the market. My best guess is you would break even or come out slightly ahead if you chose to sell while BNIB. In my opinion, we will need a few more months to see where longer term selling trends even out. |

I love it.
I would not buy it. But only because i personally don’t like fake patina. If that didn’t bother me, I’d be all over it.

I've bought three watches this year, otherwise I would already own one. Great size for me and an awesome re-issue.

Future resale on Seamaster 57 Trilogy Edition
Quote:
My advice to the OP would be to go ahead and buy it now, before they're gone. They've only made 3,557 pieces of those, and once they've all been sold, they will be hit-and-miss on the second hand market. I only one own Rolex, but own several Omegas, and I have observed that limited edition Omega models tend to hold their value over time. (This doesn't apply to all Omega limited editions, of course; the gimmicky "James Bond" or "007" limited editions that come out after a new movie release, those do not do well in the secondhand market. If the watch has any visible "007" markings on the dial or hands, it's toxic in the used market.) For reference, if you look at the Omega Planet Ocean, Liquidmetal limited edition 222.30.42.20.01.001, they made about 2,000 of them about six years ago. They now rarely come up on the secondhand market, and they're almost all going for well above their original purchase price. No way to know for sure, but I suspect the Seamaster trilogy will perform similarly. If you like it, get it. |
