Day Date II vs 40

Forgive me I searched and didn’t find anything like this thread, if it exists please point me towards it.

I know the majority of this forum is “old school” and will say 36mm over all but please save that for your personal opinion. What are the major differences between the 2 and 40 other then the obvious size and movement. What movement does the 2 have? We know the 40 has the 3255 I believe with 70 hours like the 3250 in the DJ40.

How is the market on the 2 vs 40 etc.

Please teach the forum the difference between these two and owners perspectives of both or one.

Thank you in advance.

My understanding is the really only difference is the bezel is slightly smaller on the DD40. The fluted bezel also has a few more flutes on the 40. I have a RG DDII. I consider getting a PT DD40, but it just didn’t sing to me. I ended up getting the Platona instead.

As for DD40 vs DDII, I like both, a lot, too much to get rid of the DDII.

If I had the choice between the two, I’d probably get the 40.

Other than the movement the 40 has a slimmer case, narrower bezel, the bracelet is integrated differently into the case. The bracelet also has ceramic sleeves over the pins to reduce wear and stretch. They made the 40 appear more proportioned like the 36mm.

The II's seem to be doing really well on the secondary market right now.

I always thought the DD2 was a gorgeous watch. Me specially the WG blue wave dial.

Thank you, what specifically is different with the bracelet integration? Any pics if possible?

Sounds exactly like the DJ 40 changes vs DJ 2.

I love the DD40 but the DD2 and that 41mm is gone forever. They are really holding strong in prices as I have been watching them like a hawk. Now just deciding between gold or black dial. But something about that size is just perfect, however I would agree with the consensus that the DD40 just looks right

Yea, I just picked up a DJII over a 40 and all the AD's were scratching there heads. I just felt like the watch had a different feel and aura which I was more drawn too then the 40 version, call me crazy but I liked the "old" better than the new.
