Hornby Castle

When I go out on my bike I quite often pass this very old building and I have never stopped to look closer. Today I went on the same route in my car and stopped to ask what it was. It's Hornby Castle in the Forrest of Bowland, checking on the net produced the result that it was started in the 12th century and had additions in the 15th 18th and 19th centuries. It is now a private residence. Just thought I'd share.

Quite a nice little hovel. Who's the gazillionaire who can pay the upkeep and taxes on that thing?

IF I could afford a whole damn castle, I'd rather buy off Mansor's Jewellers with all the watches and salesgirls in it!!

That would be one hell of house for a teenager to bring a date home to. You could get all the ladies with that pad.

That looks a bit like some of the castle's I visited in Ireland.

Better reconsider and invite JJ to graze some of his sheep. That front lawn will be a bitch to keep mowed.

When I go on by bike rides more often than not I end up at Devil's Bridge in Kirby Longsdale. The picture below is a view from the bridge. At the back of me are a few hundred motorbikes.
