Considering a Mirorless Camera
Has anyone recommendations? Mainly considering Sony and Canon. Sony led the charge and I'm familiar with Canon as my other cameras are theirs.

Sony ar7III, with adapter for canon lens, when used with the selective focus on the eye, shooting with a 1.2 lens is amazing.

Sony and Olympus are the big guys along with Fuji. Last I knew Canon and Nikon were kind of fighting mirrorless as they are the leaders in DSLR. This was a couple of years go. I went with Olympus.

I went with Canon when the original EOS M price tanked and I just recently acquired the EOS M5. The main gripe with the EF-M lenses is the lack of them. The other issue with the M system is that it is unclear how Canon will develop it. Will they make a new mount or stick with the EF or EF-m mount for the full frame mirror less camera? Hopefully this year they will introduce the full frame mirror less and bring some clarity to their plans.
I think this aspect will play a big role in the longevity of the current Canon mirrorless system. Besides all this, if you do not need 4K video, the Canon M5 and M6 are extremely capable cameras. |

Wow. I’ve missed a bunch on mirrorless lately. The Canon looks great. Did Nikon climb on board yet?

I do have the EF-2-EF-M adapter and I have used it with the 55-250 II and the 60 f2.8 macro without problems. My favorite lens is the 22f2 EF-m though: compact, nice bokeh, and fast (although not to focus). I would like to buy either a fast tele prime or a fast zoom but I waiting for native lenses to come out. From what I have read the majority of curret EF and EF-S lenses work great with the adapter. However the adapter adds bulk to the package. |

Considering a Mirorless Camera
I went through this decision making and research phase sometime back.
My Conclusion: SONY I had a NEX7 for many years and moved up... For a daily point and shoot the RX100 IIV is perfect! For more advanced photography the A6300 or A6500 are excellent choices! - I went with the A6300 as I did not need the video extras and it still does 4K https://www.sony.com/electronics/int...-6300-body-kit

On the other hand, Canon has a number of M camera with varying pricing unlike Nikon which seem to have one (Nikon 1) with only different lens choices. It seems to me that Canon is taking Mirrorless more seriously than Nikon if that means anything about their long term intentions. |
