26401ro problems?

ok im still on the hunt for one and its proving to be a challenge to get the right price.... ive had an offer of a trade for my 116688 YMII and my 2006 Kermit for a 2012 26401ro RG44 complete set......
1- what do we think of this deal? (kermit is watch and box only)
2-was there problems with this generation "I" of AP 44's?

I dont want to jump in and regret it... the AP has books but its never been serviced

Sounds within reason to me if you’re intent on trading. I figure your LV is trade value around 8-9 and 116688 around 23-24? Sounds fair and nothing wrong with I Series.

Frankly all these are subject to chrono module issues and I would be hesitant to own one not under warranty, particularly if it’s new to me.

Why would you expect it to have been serviced? Unless it's had a problem, it shouldn't need to be serviced. Unless you believe in these regular service intervals, which I do not. Have 3 AP's, all have been excellent and their service department in Clearwater is top notch. Do it.

i agree with this. However since nothing has happened yet, your odds seem pretty good it will last until your next service interval. It seems that the vast majority of the issues happen right away when new or not at all.

ive had a AP Safari which failed miserably and spent more time at AP service in singapore then on my wrist.... i also had a AP forged Carbon 44 which i had no problems with but was still under warranty so i wasnt too concerned
My worry is this one is going on 6 years old and i dont want to do my $$$ on having it serviced in the next short while....

For what my YMII and Kermit owe me im not really coming out in front , id be cutting my losses to get what i want i guess, however sometimes i think more with my heart then my head so i come here to get you guys to ground my reality so to speak lol

Terrible deal imo
My 2 fav watches in my collection are 116688 and 44rg lol

Ymii with blue hands (and in general for gold) have certainly gone up a bit like a bunch of others
And the Kermit goes without saying

44rg I'm noticing prices are on an upswing to so not sure

I have an I serial but with a 26400 ref which is really rare and before they removed gold from the case in the 401

I've never had an issue with the watch in 4 years

That will be with the old rainfall bezel as well, best to get one with new vertical brush bezel and still under warranty.

Rainfall bezel? Never heard of that lol

I like the older smaller brushed grain bezel, imo it flows with the brushed case well. The newer wide grain ceramic looks cool but is more suited on my legacy which continues the large brushed look. Hard to explain but once you see it you cannot unsee it
Both are awesome in any variation however !

The vertical brush bezel matches the vertical brush of the top of the case where it meets the bezel so it all flows better. The rainfall finish of the case is lower down at the lugs. Rainfall looks dated now.

Just my way of describing that grainy style bezel as opposed to the new crisp vertical. It was one of the things that put me off buying it a few years ago.
