Beware: Professionally faked sticker in a authentic warrantybook AP

Hello everybody,

I was looking for a Rubberclad H-series in steel for some time.
Came past one at Chrono24. Did contact the seller because the watch was a H serial(new type dial, the one I was looking for) with the serialnumber starting with a H (ofcourse).

I did ask for a picture of the certificate/warrantybook with the numbers readable.
The watch was dates “2008”.

Asked the seller (store) how that’s possible, seller responded that it is normal that a H series is dated 2008. He had sold a lot of H-series dated 2008-2009.

I did’t trust that so I did check the combination of warranty and casenumber on the Audemars Piguet website on the “extend the warranty section”.

This works well if you want to “check” if the combination of the numbers in de books is OK. I first did check it out on a few other watches. If you try to “extend the warranty” of a watch with legit numbers the website says “the warranty is already extended til xxxx” OR if the previous owners never had extended the warranty: “This watch is not eligible”.

If the numbers are NOT correct you will see: “The warranty numbers are invalid. Please try again.”

After seeing this I have contacted AP and sent all the pictures I had.
They confirmed that the certificate is faked and the numbers on it are not matching the data in the archives.

Beware folks, there are AP’s with fake certicate stickers in authentic books.

Good catch, just as it should be if you bother to do your due diligence.

I have had that error message when registering a watch before that is 100% authentic bought by me at an AD. The AP website is a bit hit or miss recently. I sent a pic of the warranty book via email to AP to have them register the watch for me because of the website registration issues. So good call on contacting AP as that is the definitive answer where as the error message isn't necessarily definitive

I can’t post a link here. The seller is NELO watches in Holland.

It should not give a error. If it does, you should contact AP because the warranty page is actuay a seeker in the archives but you won’t see that. But it could me a misser sometime, but it will give you a indication.
A H series can never be dated 2008, that is what ringed the alarmbells. I’m sure there are counterfeit books with the right date in it so everybody do a good check up before you buy anything!

I don't get the need to fake a warranty book info page if the watch is the real deal. watch must be fugazi as well.

it does sometimes as AP had lots and lots of IT issues at the time.

I had this happen to both my AP's that were authentic and came up with an error message. Had to send them a picture of the serial on the watch and the book. All is well now.
