AP I think need to put in order some marketing problems first.
They can start with this : last year they sell AP ROC Blue dial like Boutique Edition and no or in the very lucky case 5% discount. This year they say AP ROC Blue it’s not Boutique Edition anymore and they sell it like Black or White with discount and every retailer can sell! It’s ok but IMO it’s a big lie for AP customer!!! Why they have this tricky marketing? PP sell his Nautilus and don’t call 5711 “Boutique Edition”!! They sell a watch who are in up demande but don’t lie his customer!! So, what it’s this preowned strategy? Maybe dust in our eyes!! How can preserve the price of one watch who you AP call it today Boutique Edition and tomorrow a simple watch!!! I think for us unfortunately this mean nothing or most probably another move to can ask more money for a preowned watch who in reality have a most poor value!! ![]() They lunch AP ROC titanium/platinum like a normal watche and after one year with only few pieces sell they call it Boutique Edition, Special Edition and Limited Edition to 500 pieces!!! And after one year when nobody or at least very few talk about this watch in a moment it’s hard to find and everybody like it!!!😄😄😄😄😄 They think we are stupid people? My AD have one who stay on the Boutique till August from March and nobody want it!!! I think PP, Rolex don’t do this even in 100 year!!! To take back and sell pre owned watch!!! Don’t do it because they don’t need to do!!! What would be if PP tell us that Nautilus Limited Edition will be sell like a normal Nautilus from tomorrow? NO!! They don’t do it!!! Because they respect his clients!!! This is IMO new preowned sell AP strategy!!!! |

I may be wrong but the blue dial ROC 26331 in steel or rose gold was NEVER boutique. 26320 was. Some ADs have no idea what they’re talking about. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Plenty of incomings here have come from AD's not boutiques. AP has tightened distribution overall since SIHH 2017 when it was released so im not sure non boutiques are getting many, if any currently. But its still not officially a boutique exclusive. AP has made that term meaningless anyway. If its popular then AD's dont get any and AP sell them themselves. There are many non-boutuique only that are actually boutique only in practice. |

No you are wrong. On the AP website it was a *Novelty. Not Boutique exclusive. Like I said, some ADs are clueless. However one should always do their own research when buying such expensive time pieces. My AD for example was trying to convince me that the ROC had an AP movement. I had to spend 10 minutes teaching her how that is incorrect... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

26331 is not a boutique exclusive. However, the bulk of the allocation is allocated to boutique, just like any popular AP models.

The 26331 blue isn't technically boutique exclusive and has never been one but I have been told that they are allocated mainly to boutiques and larger authorised dealers in significantly reduced frequency compared to the white and black. For example, they probably get 3 white or black for every 1 blue. Kind of like the blnr and hulk rolex vs the standard black models.
An AP AD in Canada received one (now sold) and I tried to negotiate on it. There was a small discount to be had on the white and black but it was 0% off the blue when I asked. |

Not sure if previously disclosed, but it does make sense. 40,000 production at an average price of say USD 25k is $1bn, or around 930m Swiss Francs.

Yes FHB mentions the 1bn figure several times in different interviews at SIHH, assume it is CHF.
Up quite a lot from 2012 - improving AP margins by limiting distribution through ADs (thereby keeping more profit for themselves) and a push towards more higher end models as a % of the 40k watches. |
