Tried on the Daytone TT with Champagner Dial

Hi guys,

I'm on the waiting list for my first Rolex, the 116500ln with the white dial - still got around 4 months to go. Already got two IWC's but in the past months, Rolex really grabbed my attention after reading into its history, achievements and current manufacturing quality.

Anyway, being used to bigger sizes (42-43 mm), I feared the small wearing Daytona (38.6mm) would be too small for me. So I decided to try on a TT at the Rolex boutique as the TT has the same case dimensions as the DaytonaC. They had the TT with the champagne dial which at first looked a bit "girly" to me. But as soon as I had it on my wrist, I somehow really liked the way it looked - size AND color combination!

So now I'm debating between getting the DaytonaC or the TT.. Best would be to get both :)

If you end up getting the TT - I’ll take your spot for the Daytona C. I’m not kidding. Will travel if necessary for this one.

I'm in Switzerland so that would be an expensive flight :)

Should I decide against it, I will not sell the DaytonaC for profit as I know that many are waiting - and I myself am not a fan of "scalpers". But I think I'll wait until I see in the flesh to make a final decision... even though the wait is killing me!!

I love TT Daytonas. At the moment the watches are underrated. I hope that will change in the future.

If you decide to buy the TT Daytona, get it from a trusted dealer unless the AD offers you a nice discount on it. It can be had for a good discount off of the $16900 retail price. The price should be a little less in CHF but it’s around there. Or buy the 500 sell it for a profit and then get the TT from a trusted dealer and you’ll still have cash left over for another watch like a 16610 Submariner.

I have the privilege of working "in the industry" - meaning I have a pretty good discount on all watches (except the DayC..). But true, buying form a trusted seller would be wise as here AD's don't really give more than max. 10%.

Oh cool. Yeah I was recently in Germany and they really don’t tend to budge much on prices like American ADs do. In fact I was surprised to see how much less inventory on hand most ADs have. Usually what you see in the windows is what they have on hand except for a few more examples of the more common watches like Datejusts.

Absolutely true. However, the Bucherer/Rolex boutique in Lucerne has a great selection on two floors. Filled with Chinese tourists all the time but it's really worth to take a look as a ton of watches are on display.

I was really taken by the Champagne dial on a DJ41, but after I tried it on again it didn't feel quite as good, so I'd be cautious as it's an unusual colour.

Honestly I’ve been thinking the same thing lately! I can get a new TT daytona from an AD for a very very close price of the Daytona C
I’m considering it

The TT Daytona looks great!

Does anyone know how to acquire a Panda dial on a TT?

Black sub-dials would look good also.

Rolex did make it. I owned one. TT white dial w/black sub dials. Reference 116523. I'm sure they're still out there.

OP: Wait for the 500C.

I bought the T/T Daytona 116503 with the White Dial & Gold Sub Dials last year. I thought that would be the last Daytona I would purchase until I got the Full Y/G Daytona in a couple of years time. But I was passing a local Rolex AD in my City & decided to look in the window to see what they had on display & saw the T/T Daytona with the White MOP eight Diamonds Dial & fell completely in love with it. I never got the whole Diamonds thing before, I didn't really rate them. But today I send away my Daytona to the UK to sell it. I already have my flight booked to the UK for May this year to pick up the Daytona with the White MOP eight Diamonds Dial. I don't buy my Watches in my own Country as they are too expensive. I will be paying about 4,600 GBP to upgrade to the new Daytona with what I expect to get on the Daytona I am selling, but I feel it's worth it. All told it will cost me 14,565 GBP. I do still hope to get the Full Y/G Daytona in a couple of years time but at that time I will be getting the one with the White MOP eight Diamonds Dial & I will be more than happy with this one until the right time comes around. I buy my Watches from a Grey Dealer in the North of England & they are very good & very reasonable with their prices. The Watch I will be picking up in May is over 1,000 GBP cheaper than a Rolex AD
