Never had a watch dealer try to liquor me up which is shocking! Even my local clothing boutique will give a beer, wine or espresso to talk you into their premium products.

Respect!

Just started cycling last summer. Hope to get there some day
Best of luck and stay safe on the road.

Thanks! I did have 5 hours and 4 minutes to acclimate to the lack of oxygen.

I have a second home on Kaanapali Hillside just down the street from Whalers Village. That is a good AD in the Village, there used to be a dealer downtown Lahaina but I'm not sure what happened to them. Baron's has a large store in Honolulu also.

Unless you insist on walking out with the watch, save the tax and have them ship it to your home stateside next time.

You noticed the part about being drunk right? At the time saving $400 or so in tax didn't seem worth the wait. Had to have it THEN. Must have fancied wearing it those 4 remaining days on the island. Hmmm, that works out to about $100 per day rental fee i guess. Seems in line with other Hawaiian expenditures. My cabana rent was $105 per day...

Thanks all. My advice is to stay out of high-end watch retailers while drinking and on vacation. cheers:

Congrats on your first Rolex. Great story.
That is a good store. I picked up a Yacht Master 16623 there in 2008 on an impulse buy. I wasn't even drinking...

I agree. No discounts around here. I think he got an excellent deal. Nothing like a new Sub from an AD.

...what a great read! I managed to accomplish almost the same adventure as the OP, except the location was Jamaica and the watch was a Patek...and the rum was excellent.

Congratulations!

My husband and I stayed in Wailea last summer and we went to Baron & Leeds often. They were very nice, and had some nice used Rolexes. My husband didn't find anything he fell in love with, but he caught the Rolex bug and i got him a gorgeous Pepsi GMT 16710 from HQ Milton shortly afterwards.
