There's some nice retro styling on this 1980 (case and movement code ‘P0’: www.mybulova.com/bulova-date-codes) Caravelle Automatic by Bulova. It comes in its original box with blank warranty paper and owner’s guide, with caseback sticker in place.

The nicely brushed and polished 35mm case is all stainless steel with a base metal gold tone bezel and crown. The only blemishes are a small area of crimping on the inside of the band and some very light scratching where I removed the caseback to inspect the movement.

Both the date and the day (English or Spanish) are quickset with this automatic 17j hacking movement, which is bright and clean, and holds a 48-hour power reserve. Winding rotor turns freely. I timed it crown-up on two occasions for 24 hours both times, and it only gained about two seconds in that time, which is extraordinary for an unused movement of this age. Most likely a fluke, but it is what it is.

The light and comfortable stainless-steel bracelet with Bulova tuning-fork clasp will fit up to an 8-inch wrist and is easy to adjust both ways. My wrist in the last shot below is 7.25 inches.

This is a fun little runner, looking and working like new, and an affordable birth-year piece for anyone turning 38 this year, or who would appreciate a late-'70s/early-80's style daily wearer in new condition.
