Q: PM and pitting

Gidday

I have read and seen examples of case pitting / corrosion on stainless steel cases. My dad's 1970 Omega Geneve had to be retired because of pitting and subsequent water ingress.

Do precious metal cases (gold and platinum) also succumb to pitting?

Cheers
Joe
