Upside down numerals

What is the history for this, anything special?

I can’t stand the look of some dial’s numbers like the 7 placed upside down. It bugs me so much. Maybe it’s ocd

What do you think?

Firstly,don't look at 'em then.

Secondly, yes, definitely OCD.

Thirdly, I know, it's nuts isn't it!

Upside down Romans remind me of those cheap fake dials where they make really stupid mistakes like misspelling 'Rolex' or 'Certified' or putting Romans upside down. :) Not a fan.

Proper Romans:

Agreed. The dials that have the upside down 6 at the 6 o’clock position that look like 9’s drive me crazy. Once I noticed it, I could not un-notice it. Many of the Daytona dials were ruined for me.

Honestly I prefer it and looks better to me. I guess don’t buy it if it bothers you?

I agree, the butchered “L” where the 7 should be is hard to get used to. As it’s so regularly seen on the Daytona I’ve come to accept it. But I’d rather it be upright and look like a 7. Same with the 9 at the 6. And the 6 at the 9.

For Romans, I do prefer upside down, old-world sundial style.
