Submariner Gold Bracelet
My Submariner gold bracelet has a crack in the clasp that snaps down before the flip lock. It cracked on both sides and is only locked by the flip lock. I am sure that one side broke before the other, but was only brought to my attention when they both went. Did anyone have this happen to them and what is the proper repair? Can it be soldered with gold by a certified Rolex dealer? Does it have to be replaced? How much will it cost. Thank you to the Rolex Forums community. I know I will have answers immediately. You guys are the best. |

zoom out a little and take a couple more pictures. I'll have our goldsmith analyze if its repairable or not.

Your friendly RSC will not repair your clasp, they will insist that it be replaced.
Practically any good manufacturing jeweler, you know, the ones who actually make jewelry settings and pieces, or a true repair shop, can either laser weld or re-flow the metal and repair your clasp. Shop for a good one, not a cheap one.

Rolex will replace it and charge you big $$$. Fix it privately through a goldsmith.

RSC don't repair they just replace as stated above... as its gold it can be easily repaired (assuming by the photos its just torn) by any good jeweler with in house facilities for making jewellery pieces from scratch.... I would go that way first before going to RSC

I feel like I'm mentioning this more often: I know an excellent watchmaker in NYC whom I recommend highly. He has done great work on multiple watches for me. Actually, he works with a jeweler who is known for precious metal watch bracelet work.

Thank you for the feedback. I am waiting to hear back from my jeweler who has a master watch maker on staff. He has worked on several pieces in my collection and I have been very pleased with the results. I am surprised this is not a more common occurrence with the amount of wear that particular piece gets in the life of the watch.

The issue with Rolex not standing by their bracelets and repairing them (particularly in gold and platinum) is that it turns Rolex into a precious metals dispoable watch.

I am taking my watch in to my jeweler/watchmaker today. He says that the replacement part from Rolex is $900. He can fix it for a couple hundred dollars. I'll post pictures after the job is done.

Awesome - but the question has to be asked how the hell did that happen in the first place?
18k is not soft at all and quite hard actually. You would have had a fall or something? |

I just noticed the same thing on my 18k rolex bracelet, it seems to have occurred when I was in a much warmer climate and the watch was tighter on my wrist.
Ill have to look out for a master jeweller or gold smith to fix this now! |

A jeweler can fix it with a laser.
