Anyone been to a local Panerai GTG with their regional Panerai Rep?

My AD invited myself and 11 other gentlemen to a GTG they are hosting at a local steakhouse on 10/20. The Panerai Rep from NY, Heidi, is going to be there with new watches to look at and info to share about Panerai. I've never been to one of these before and don't know what to expect. Just curious to hear about your experiences at these types of events.

Panerai Rep = Very Very Sore point with me, and IMO a LOW with Panerai.
THe Rep, last year, basically promised me a VERY RARE watch. Told me straight up, there is a BNIB PAM 20X sitting in so & so's office. When he went to follow up on it, I was told I had to go through the BHB to get this watch. Called them, they didn't know me from Adam, and all the 20X's were sold, too bed, have a nice day, now go away & quit bothering us.
My local AD followed up, but their hands were tied.
So, why would the REP even mention he could get this watch, knowing perfectly well they had to be distributed through the boutiques. He never even called them to give the okay to sell to me.
Left a very bad taste in my mouth.

Tswane- nice pics! hope to see that many different pieces at our GTG.

Launch- sorry to hear about the bad experience with the rep. I've got a tons of things I want to ask Heidi about, but I guess I should take what she says with a grain of salt.

Matt

go!!

i went to one in palo alto a couple months ago; they had quite a few rare watches, not for sale however, like the tourbillion, ceramics, etc. Very nice.

and they gave us all a panerai keychain (nice one, not some junk) and a new catalog.

im glad i went,

mark

We had quite a special collection of PAMs on the table that evening.Quite a memorable evening and the most amazing people that came together.I am looking forward to our next GTG.We are getting more and more involved and our GTGs should grow larger everytime.

I know this doesn't matter in the least, but what are the typical demographics on Panerai owners? Specifically age? I'm only 28, and to be honest, I'm a little worried that I'm going to be way out of my element with the other gentlemen that will be in attendance. Hopefully they won't shun me :)

Ask to see Heidi's watch. She will have a "Shadow" caseback.
NO production number. Pretty cool.
Panerai GTG are generally a great time.

Lets put it this way.I invited a colleague with to the GTG(Owns vintage Patek,ss Daytona white dial, some DJs etc) and his comments at the end of the evening was the following ... "I simply cannot believe the passion and enthusiasm of the Panerai owners for the brand. It's absolutely amazing !!"

It gets better. This is a true story,as told by a UK Paneristi, that joined us in Johannesburg at the last GTG ......

He told how he ordered a diamond ring for his wife in Cape Town.Left for the UK again. Then,a local Panerist who was in Cape Town ,picked it up and flew to Johannesburg. Here,he gave it to another Paneristi who was flying to London....and the ring got to our friends wife in the UK !!

Trust between strangers that actually just know each other through the internet.Thats what Paneristi are about, that coins the phrase ... "Panerai,so much more than a watch"

Well the event was great. Great people, great food, and great watches. Heidi brought several unique pieces. The neatest two being the dlc 26 and the turbillion. Both were outstanding! I had my eyes on a 242 all night and if I wasn't waiting on a 292 I'd jump on it. Good news is that there are several 292s with the pig still coming. I feared they had all been delivered. And I am now first on the list at my AD. Bad news is Heidi confirmed 20 pieces a month coming out of the factory so I have no clue when mine will arrive.

Been to a few, usually some nice watch candy to play with and nice giveaways. But, the sales BS is usually in full force. I go to see the watches in the metal, but still rely on other paneristi if I want true scoop and knowledge.
