Cool. The last thing i expected this morning was to see this beautiful 5513 on here. Great watch and honestly we added to steel to hold back the Porousity that was beginning to eat away at the lugs. Not much work was done to it. Yes it will look "too new" for a while but give it a few months to a year and it will look nicely worn in without the loss of steel on the lugs. Thanks Kenny147! Enjoy it and have a great time with it! Also thanks for the compliments!

Nothing speaks more of a man's work than positive word of mouth. O.K. photos don't hurt either. Much luck with your "new" watch and congrats to Dalton.

Great work with a stunning result.

I do the same but not with a lame welding machine as Dalton´s.

It looks great. It's kinda like painting a car with a brush but it gets the job done.

Yup beautiful work. This is the type of person you take your watch to when it needs case service not the AD.

Wow, I'm a little amazed by all the replies to my post and even more surprised at the debate it's caused regarding the pros and cons of having your watch subjected to some TLC.

I think essentially that it all comes down to personal preference. Some of the TRF patrons are serious collectors that will only consider watches that come with their original B+P's, bracelet and unpolished case with untouched, beveled edges. But most I think, simply love our watches and appreciate them for what they are; Timeless classics that are well designed, engineered and steeped in history.

To be honest, what Dalton did for my 5513 went far beyond my expectations. I never wanted a brand new watch. Had I, I would have simply bought a brand new ND Sub. What I feel I have, is a 27 year old watch that looks like it's in great condition, with a dial and hands that have a very creamy, even patina. Something I can keep for the next 27 years.

I used to think there were 3 types of tradesmen (I say this with the greatest of respect), whose honesty and good work you should always value; Electricians, Plumbers and Car Mechanics. I think if you add a "Watch Man" to the list, most of us will be pretty much covered.

I posted the before and after picks, not as a way to pat myself on the back but as a way to spread the word as to the standard of Dalton's work. He listened to exactly what I wanted, appreciated my reservations about doing "too much" and kept me briefed throughout the whole process.

I really can't speak highly enough as to the quality of his work.

Wow, great work and the watch looks superb. Sorry for my lack of knowledge but did he fill the gouges with steel? Is that what the reference to micro welding and the pic of the lug refers to?

Congratulations on a great looking watch. Is it acceptable to ask what the cleanup cost?

Most eloquently expressed. You have a beautiful watch, expertly refurbished - what a great outcome.

Yes, The dents and gouges were filled using the same type of steel.

I'm not sure if Dalton would approve of me posting how much he charged but lets just say I bought a Jubilee bracelet for my 1675 not so long ago and that was more expensive.

This is not the first example of Dalton's magic we've seen. He is truly a craftsman.
