My 20 year old son will have an endoscopy tomorrow and would appreciate any feedback regarding discomfort post procedure.

I've had a couple and they aren't bad as long as the anesthesia works okay.

In fact, it should be over before he knows it.

Just has one in January. Super easy. A very simple test all around.

I have Crohn’s disease. Have them yearly and I’ve had this for 25 years so do the math. Prep is worse than the procedure since you’re out for that.
No biggie. He’ll lose a few pounds and be pretty hungry when it’s all over

Had one, other then Valium was not sedated at all. I can’t say it was enjoyable but really not bad at all. Best thing to do is relax during the procedure. The more relaxed the better it will go and the whole thing lasts a minute, maybe two

No real discomfort but they do blow air in occasionally to help get around corners. Feels like a gas pain. Recovery room can be a little noisy.

Let me clarify that this was referring to my endoscopy, for my COLONOSCOPY, I was full of enough drugs to put down an elephant.

My understanding is all the liquid pre-op is the worst part.

Is a colonoscopy as uncomfortable as a cystoscopy or surgerical removal of bladder stones?

Colonoscopy is really easy. The "prep work" is the most difficult part. People make it sound much worse than it is. Can't compare it to other procedures you mention.

Had all of them, was wide awake during the Cystoscopy and Endo. I must say in terms of physical unpleasantness the two are similar, but it’s the old Cysto that takes the cake for over-all anxiety producing procedures. A Penis, at least in my book, is a ONE-WAY-STREET. And when something starts going the wrong way alarm bells go off in your brain screaming: WTF!?!?!?!?

Many times the anticipation is not nearly as bad (or good) as the realization.

I had one of those things shoved up my Richard 'Arris last year. I was knocked out when they did so I didn't feel a thing and I had no issues afterwards.

I had two complaints thought:

1. The laxatives they gave me turned my patootie from a penny to a dustbin lid. In a three hour period, I had a total of twenty minutes off the bog. At one stage, I was sat on there so long that when I finally stood up, I fell over (combination of low blood pressure and my feet had gone to sleep so they got tangles in my shorts and Alan's).

2. I was rudely (not ruudly) awoken in recovery after the procedure by some peckerhead arguing with his wife. They were told. Ruudly!

Had two.....one last month....the first one I was apprehensive because Ive never had one and having problems swallowing and worried about cancer etc....It left me "sore" for a few days.
The one 3 weeks ago was a breeze.

I've had an endoscopy just a few days ago and honestly I couldn't remember much of the procedure besides the initial unpleasantness of them putting the tube in at the start. Overall, now I can say it is a pretty simple procedure. Of course it's necessary to choose carefully the clinic and specialist. I trust only those who use proper medical equipment like here https://bimedis.com/search/search-it...logy-equipment. My gag reflex is extremely sensitive, but with proper med equipment everything was ok.

I've had 2 under GA...no issues at all

I woke up mimic the nurses South African accent though....it was weird. She thought I was from there. I don't remember what I was saying to her.

Hope it went well for your son op.

I've had a number of Endoscopies and Colonoscopies due my IBD.

In the UK you can get an endoscopy with no sedation, which I did for my first and regretted it the minute I saw the not so flexible pipe

not to be recommended. Actually under sedation I find it quite uncomfortable, in my experience in the UK neither scope is a G.A procedure.

Colonoscopies are done under sedation, thankfully not negotiable so no wrong decision for me to make on this one. I've had one bad experience when I was hospitalised for the next 5 days. But mostly when I've been healthy they have been ok.

I am dreading another scheduled cystoscopy.
Saw my Urologist after seeing blood in my urine.
No more blood but he ordered a CT scan, and blood work.
Another bladder stone, tumor?
Anyone hear about PAE for bph?

I had one a few years ago. The actual endoscopy wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. However the industrial strength laxative before was a horrific 13 hour ordeal
