I would if it was something I really wanted and was assured I'd receive in a reasonable time period. If it was a watch I was on the fence about, I'd have to try it on in person before committing.

What leads you to believe that they will be scarce?
The hype they are creating is doing its magic... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Just like anything else. Look at iPhone. Look at the next game console. Look at the next shoe release. Companies know what they are doing. Creating hype. And of course people falling for it.

Okay, I'm really confused about why an AD thinks it's okay to shuffle names on a list. What sort of shifty business practice allows for a buyer to move up on a list because he provides a tiny amount of working capital? If you're an AD and you tell me I'm first in line, and then a moment later I drop to 2nd because some schmuck who was third gave you a little money, then I don't trust you any longer. You lied to me.
Rant over. Thank you. |

A bit shady by your AD, you move up on the list until the next buyer pays 75% and he will go above you.
I would not play this game and imho you did the right thing.

What if the AD goes bust! Deposit gone unless you use a credit card.

I personally would. Depending on the wait, it'd be nice to have paid for 1/2 the watch months prior.

I was on the list for a Hulk at 3 AD’s. Non requested or would accept a deposit. They understand the watch will not sit in inventory. For non-inventory orders (specific PM watches), pretty sure deposits are required.
