Being a new rolex junkie, I was wondering what rolex has appreciated in value the most over the years? Or in other words, what is the rarest rolex out there? In addition, what was the original cost compared to what it is worth now?

There are a few but the original Milgauss with the sub bezel is pretty rare. It is an awesome watch!!!

I think it is probably the Exotic Red Dial Newman Daytona, but I could be wrong?

i would guess(and it's only a guess) that the original Milgauss which came out around 1956(?) would've cost ??(hundreds of dollars) now worth between $70,000-$125,000....if there's a rolex that's appreciated more, i'm not aware of it......but that doesn't mean a model with more appreciation isn't out there.

Two prototype Daytonas went under the hammer at Antiquorum a few years ago for over $300,000 USD (one was near the 400K mark). The watches had novel dial colours, and the speculation was that they were part of a market-research strategy to gather consumer interest information about those color combinations.
