The GMT PUSSY GALORE ?????

OMFG What some sellers wont say or do to sell a watch on e bay! Read the ad and have a laugh...
It's taking the James Bond theme a little to far.

The dial looks weird (even it's a re-done - the lumes are so uneven)... Should it be in watch out?

Hi,

I am sure that I have seen this piece described as the "Pussy Galore" before.

I will try to find the link.

I am certain that Mike will be able to explain.

Regards Mike.

Honor Blackman was "Pussy Galore" in Goldfinger and when she wore a GMT as the pilot.

THat watch has been swamped. Some of the various screws internal to the movement are corroded. the case back (inside also shows corrossion ) probably salt water. While I would like to have "pussy galore" I would not pay anywhere near the price for a swamped watch. The case has signs of rust and corrossion as well. Look close at the case and bezel areas, and count how much brown rust there is. This is stainless, it should not have brown rust on it.

Shame about the condition of the watch.

Indeed the 6542 was dubbed the "Pussy Galore" by the collecting community as tribute to Ms. Honor Blackman that wore the watch (and quite well ) in "Goldfinger"

I just saw a bakelight bezel last night and it was cool. That dial looks awful. I think the owner stopped by my studio with it once. That watch looks very familiar.

I always thought the 6542, as worn by Honor Blackman, had the red and black bakelite bezel. But it's hard to tell. It could have been the so called Pepsi bezel. It's one of the reasons that I bought my 16710 red/black back in the early 90's while sailing as an Officer in the U.S. Merchant Marine. It was my first "expensive" watch. A very cool "tool" watch for people who have to be aware of GMT, ZULU or UTC time.

Yeah-- wouldn't it be stronger marketing to associate it w/ the couple of times or so that "James Bond" wore a GMT?

Don't know much about it.
Serial number is not visible.
I thought it there is date, most dials will have oyster perpetual DATE and this dial is missing it.
Let's wait for the vintage experts here so I can learn something.

Showed pictures to a Rolex nut friend of mine he thinks watch looks fake as serial number not visible and he has a couple of fifties rolex and you can see all numbers and engravings perfect, should not rub down this much even with wear and tear. also if watch has just been to rolex all traces of rust and damage would have been repaired as all part of a service and this is what you pay for and why it costs so much. Same as if you send of an Omega they do all cleaning and repairs and scratches as part of service just had my Seamaster back and looks brand new

You're absolutely right Parachrom, look closely at the screws inside the back case, two of them are completely rusted! This watch is not in good condition.
