Buying a watch & want to clear the serial#
Is there a number or database out there that one can access to verify that a watch hasn't been reported stolen? I'm getting ready to purchase a watch and it looks like it will most probably be from someone on member on here or TZ. Either way, I would feel better if I could verify the serial# first.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. PS. I called RolexUSA and they couldn't help me. Thanks! |

I don't think there is an open database of serial numbers for stolen Rolex watches...you're best bet would be to buy a watch that has signed & dated papers from an AD...purchasing from the original owner would be the best bet but I'd recommend buying a watch that has papers.

Sorry, there is no master database of stolen serial numbers.. Rolex maintains their own master, but you have to send the watch to them for verification, and then if it is stolen, they report it to the proper authorities..
You can find some limited entries at sites such as Quality Tyme.. http://www.qualitytyme.net/pages/stolen.html and check your local police registry..

There are a few lists out there, but the best list is the one that Rolex USA has, and they are not sharing. I think you would be better off buying the seller first, if the seller is on the up & up, you will have no worries.
