Interesting Story (SS Daytona)

Hi All, ( great forum)

I am new to the forum, and just wanted to relay the story of how I got my SS Daytona, in about a month. I have wanted a Rolex for about 20 years and in 2006 purchaed my first on trip to St. Martin. (Rolex GMT master II Red/Black) and I love it. However I have always wanted a SS Daytona. About 2 months ago I visited a large AD in toronto, walked in a asked if they had a waiting list for SS Daytona, she said anywhere from 6 months to a few years. They would take 1/2 down and gimme a call when it comes in. However she did suggest I try a local smaller AD. So I went on www.rolex.com and found a small local AD. Paid them a visit. The sales person was really nice and knew I had a passion for watches. Also he had a SS Daytona waiting for a customer that he let me try on. I was speakless, because I had only seen one at the AD. about 15 years ago. Also to my amazement pull out a 1972 Rolex Daytona purchased for $450, now selling for about 50k. Anyway, I inquired about one for myself. I told him it was my birthday Oct 20. and I would like one by then. He said he would try. Anyway to make a long story short I got it on Oct 18, for a birthday present from my gf. Theres is nothing like a SS Daytona WF. How do you top that.

PS. They are real picky who they will sell to. If they think you will flip it they won't sell it to you.

Very cool story.
My AD is the same of the "flippers" and letting special pieces go out to them.
Loyalty does have it's rewards

Nice story, and your girlfriend bought it for you? I'd say both are keepers! Enjoy the Daytona and Congrats!

Great story Porsche9284, wear your S/S daytona in good health.
It's a beautiful watch and I would like to know which AD provided you with the excellent salemanship, there far and few between.
I live in the Toronto area and have gotton the same reply regarding a S/S Daytona, mine came to me after a 2 week wait, all because a potential buyer couldn't pull the trigger.

Please feel free to post the mandatory pics.

My A.D. is the same way. Tried to get TRF member A SS Daytona and they would not sell it. Wouldn't even sell it to me cuz I bought one that week. Funny too how I got w/ them. In Feb. called looking for MG, told me no but have used SS Daytona. Called him back to let him know I was on the way, tells me he made a mistake. He HAS a MG,black. Needless to say that was my lucky day, left w/ both. SS Day for less than MSRP,$7900 then. Been dealing w/ him since. Recently he got me a blk SS Day. Took me over a year to get them to sell to me.

and that would be the harder-to-get, higher premium, one and only SS Daytona BF.

Both are awesome though! Congrats on your "grail" watch!
