Unpolished 5 digit references
How common are they out there. Seems most were purchased to be worn (vs collected) and likely would have seen at least one service by now (probably more).

I guess it depends what you're looking for and how hard... My dad wears a K serial DJ as his daily and never been serviced.

I have a 16600, 16610 LV, 16613 and 16710 that are still in rotation. Mostly D & F serials. None have been serviced or polished. When the time comes to do the service, I will send them to an independant to have them serviced. That way I do not need to worry about an RSC not following directions.

They’re out there. Although these days they’re out there at pretty high prices. There are also lightly polished examples that still have nice and sharp lugs. Not every polished watch has been destroyed.

I have a 16600 that has never been worn or sized and a 16610LV that has been worn just a handful of times. I think there are more 5-digit models out there that have never been polished than you think.

Nothing wrong with a professional polish. Its a "polish" not a "grind". A heavily worn watch will need lots of metal shaving off which will change the shape, but light scratches come out easily. My 2004 16710 has been polished by RSC when i took it to them 4 weeks ago, and looks so lovely and new now that i can't bring myself to wear it.

I would think there are plenty of unpolished 5-digit references out there. One thing to remember, being "unpolished" is not synonymous with "like new condition."
I looked at an unpolished Submariner 16610 set the other day, P serial number, which was sent to me as a possible purchase. When I received the watch and examined it, I had to agree that it was unpolished, but it was way to rough for me and it was sent back.
