I think most enthusiasts have a good idea regarding resale expectations. It just comes down to comfort level. For example almost everyone here knows the type of loss buying PM Rolex...so either you:
1) Buy new from AD and just don't care about that loss in cash since you're keeping the watch. You just have to be comfortable making that move. 2) Buy grey or used and mitigate/minimize the loss. Still gotta be comfortable taking the loss if you resale, albeit less of a loss. Whatever comfort is differs person to person. To me 10k might mean a lot and not to another considering a watch. I think it's all good as long as we're comfortable and have done the research to be an educated buyer. I really appreciate everyone chiming in on this to help me along the journey. |

Also, I suppose if you are buying grey you've got to find the right dealer whereas if you are buying AD it's not that much of a problem.
