Change Dial and Handset on 214270

I have an mkI 214270. I seem to recall someone replacing their dial and handset with mkII versions.

Does anyone know of a source to get this done with OEM parts?

I thought RSC was the only option, unless someone knows otherwise.

I know Rolex will not replace hands on their own, first hand from RSC. Mind you as reference is the same the dial and hands may be able to be replaced as it will be identical to 2016. Best call RSC and ask them. They will insist on a service better to leave it till it is due.

Yes, RSC is able to change the dial/hands for you, but only when you sent it in for service. They offer to change it for me when I brought in my gf Explorer 214270 Mk1 in for service. But if you want to make your watch look exactly like the Mk2, you will need to buy a new clasp too, since the latter got the polished inner blade instead of a sand blasted.

Interesting, thank you! I called the Dallas RSC and they were pretty firm, stating that while the hands could be changed, they would not allow a dial change to the lume 3-6-9 Mk2 version. Did not know that about the clasp.

This is cool, since I prefer the mk1 dial, but prefer the new hands (not by much). May check this option out during the next service.

I’ll change the hands but not the dial on my explorer. I like the WG numerals.

If you are planning to swap a MK1 dial and hands to a MK2 set, it might actually be cheaper / about the same as selling one and buying the other.
