I recently asked about a GMT correction here, after discussing with my local AD following Basel. All I got were some smart aleck replies questioning my source (who I didn’t want to blab about on a open forum) and the same old “going up up up” replies. My AD (who has some used for sale at this time, said that since Basel and due to Rolex confirming no increase this year, prices have indeed softened 1-3000 on the used market (offline at least) and he can’t get what he expected before Basel. White gold pepsi has taken a dive as well.

I’d say the online market keeps itself propped up in part because of the attitude witnessed on these threads. The reality is, 5 digit GMT prices have been ridiculous and I feel like if not a correction, growth will slow or stall while everything else catches up.

Don’t take my word for it though. I’m just a random forum member.

$8,700 seems like a pretty reasonable price assuming it’s a full set. But I agree. Prices have shot JP very quickly. I was watching one that I considered buying. The price went up $1,000 in around 6 months before I finally did buy it. I guess I should have acted sooner. But all in all I’m happy with it so who cares!

I'm with you on this.

Damn, I hope he's right and the prices are dropping! This way I can finally get one at a reasonable price!

OP, you won’t get an objective discussion here. There’s a word for the prevailing attitude. I can’t remember but something to do with a circle.

Taking the word of (1) dealer you know as gospel regarding the market valuation of this specific reference seems pretty subjective to me...

Your dude says one thing, the market says otherwise...that's why it's a "nah".

One thing that I find perplexing is the newly releasedTudor GMT has the shadow of the SS gmt (bezel and red hands etc) and even then the 16700/16710 still isn't going down much in value. Maybe it's a self fulfilling prophecy as well that coz it's a rolex it's just different from others

My first Rolex. It's an "A" series Ref. 16710 with SEL and Superluminova dial.
