No. It's just watches.
I do frown upon Tag Heurer's customer service. Rude and unprofessionals working there.

My brood.
Let's say that one day while at my favorite haunt, I'm wearing my $30 Casio Waveceptor and a regular customer who doesn't know me all that well, starts bragging about his $1500 TAG and making snide remarks about my Casio. Personally, I don't feel offended because even though his TAG is nice, I know that my Casio is a miracle of modern science and comes about as close to the goal of every watchmaker as any watch can get since the first homo sapiens stuck a stick in the ground to track the course of the sun across the sky. But, since I know by his behavior, he's only interested in the fact that he paid $1500 for his watch and I paid only $30 for my watch that he thinks that not only is his watch superior to mine, but that he's superior to me. Okay. This guy and I don't know each other very well, but I do know that he frequents the restaurant. I also have an idea of when he comes in and how often and, because I know the staff of the restaurant very well, I confirm that he's most likely to show up at 6:30am on weekdays to grab some breakfast before he goes to work. So, one morning, I'm not sleeping so well and I'm up at 5:00am, so I get me a shower, put on my Rolex and head off to the the restaurant and as soon as I walk through the door, I see Mr. Coolwatch at the counter waiting for his Huevos Rancheros. We strike up a conversation about the weather, the economy, and the inevitable collapse of Western Civilization. He's distracted, trying figure out if by Western Civilization I'm talking about Coors beer, red and green chili, the Unser brothers, and the New Mexico State Fair, when all of a sudden I excuse myself and reach across the counter for the salt and "inadvertently" expose my Explorer, which snaps him out of his deep philosophical thought. Now, what's he going to say? Is he going to compliment me on my watch? I don't think so. He's going to be reassessing his judgement of others based on the choice of their watches and perhaps, if he's really astute, his own assessment of himself. Watches can be a lot of fun. Disclaimer: For dramatic effect, this rendering is a composite actual events. Certain facts have been altered to protect the innocent.

I wore a Gucci watch for 10 yrs and the only maintenance I had to do was change the battery twice. It kept good time and looked good in my opinion and felt solid. I have always admired Omega and Rolex watches but couldn't always afford them. Now that I am the proud owner of my first Rolex (SS GMT-IIc) I don't look down on other watches, but do like to showoff mine a bit. I like to go the ADs and strike up conversation and things of that nature. Admittedly so, I do like it when I get a comment on the watch or feel that I am wearing a watch "nicer" than the guy next to me, however, I would never frown upon someone wearing a "lesser" watch. I think we all wear our Rolexes with a sense of pride, but there is a differnece in being proud and being snobish.

Wow, klayface, you must really think hard about this on a daily basis. LOL!
I only own Rolex right now, but I have owned plenty of other brands, so to answer your question...No.

I simply like watches, and have a mixed collection. Bought them because I like the look of each one and they were within my budget at the time. I will never judge anyone by their possessions or what they wear. On the other hand, I do not care what other people think when they see me wearing a "cheap" watch. If people want to be snobs, that's their problem, not mine. |

I like all nice timepieces and enjoy talking to the owners about them so no, I don't look down on anyone who owns something other than a Rolex. And so far I haven't met a Patek owner who has belittled me, but I am sure one day...
I recently purchased a Timex TX 500. I just liked the looks and functionality of the watch and added to my collection. I have only worn it once, but it will get some wrist time in due order. I just like nice watches. Even ones I can't afford. Here is a photo of the TX. It is in rose gold. And the one I can't afford. Urwerk 202 Automatic - Twin Turbine Hammerhead And a very sweet video of this fine complication. If you haven't seen this it is definitely worth a few minutes of your time. Can you believe this watch is wound with twin mini turbines. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLTBnIszCLE

I only look down on one watch brand & that's because they charge thousands for their watches, but their ex CEO was caught importing $10 watch movements. The reason he's the ex CEO is because he was fired...
I do tend to think less of watch owners who insist theirs is the best & won't accept anyone elses point of view unless it's the same as theirs.

Hey klayface:
Just because we are Rolex owners, that does not necessarily mean we trash talk non-rolex owners. Your post is pretty inconsiderate and shallow. Grow up and give your Rolex to someone who understands courtesy and respect. Not the kind of replies you were expecting huh??? |

People who have bought a rolex from their sweat and blood will always know of their humble start and will always respect any1s expense. TRF is all about brotherhood which is beyond financial status or personal choice and not for snobs.

Well, let's see. My collection includes everything from Alpha to Zippo, with a couple of VERY rare Rolex watches (1908 W&D, 1940 British military issue) thrown in for good measure. I wonder what the OP would think of me on a day when I'm wearing my 1917 Russian Moser or 1949 Wadsworth?

My first decent watch was a Tag Divers watch I bought in 1994, I got it because I liked it and at the time I didn't fancy the look of a Rolex. Lat year, I lost the Tag, looked around for a replacement and decided I liked the Explorer 2, so I bought one.
It's a taste issue and tastes are individual and change. It's arrogant to believe you have superior taste, it's different taste.

No point in looking down at what others choose to wear. Just because you wear a Rolex doesn't mean anybody that cant afford or doesn't want a Rolex watch can't wear any of the other brands of watches IMHO! What your saying is if you cant afford to wear a luxury watch such as Rolex go without a watch completley? Were you born with a Rolex on your wrist??? As for the Tag scenario, its your opinion that it resembles closely to the sub but it might not have to the buyer??? The buyer may prefer Tag to Rolex and theres nothing wrong in that really is there??? Opinions are like @ss holes, everyone's got one... |

My thoughts are that if the PP owner is a snot like you, then he will wonder how much interest you are paying to the CC company before you own your pathetic little Rolex. Your comments are disgusting and like others have said, you give Rolex owners a bad name.
Mods, I apologize for flaming and or feeding a troll, but I usually dont respond as such, and couldn't help but to adress this. Patrick Quote:

Yeah, I get a bit embarrassed when I read cr*p like this.
This in not what wearing Rolex means to me, and I'm glad to see the original poster is in the minority on here. |

I like the egalitarian mood on this thread, and I agree that one should buy, and wear, the watch that floats his/her boat and not the one that floats mine. But I have to say a word about Movado.
I bought a Movado for a cool grand about 18 years ago. I loved the way the watch looked and wore the heck out of it. The clasp eventually wore out, and I took it to Movado (about 8 years after my purchase) to repair the clasp. They wrote back that the clasp had simply worn out and that, as it was integral to the bracelet which was integral (non-seperable) to the case and could not be removed or replaced, I should buy another Movado. I did not, but will always look upon the Movado brand as carrying an expiration date. Thus began my fascination with mechanical watches, which led me to Rolex.

Do we look down upon other watches...wellll Dahhhling of course we dont. Those poor misfortunates that buy these non rolex brands, are mere peasants, not true lovers of fine quality. But what do I know Dahhhling I still have my original timex dive watch. It would get half full of water and you know you were are 30 ft.

Klayface is either trying (and failing) to provoke a storm or just displaying himself as a scumbag.
Either way this thread has had it's day.
