Ceramic bezel Explorer 2? Odds?

I was wondering what were the odds of getting a refreshed explorer 2 with a ceramic bezel in the next couple of years. Kinda hard to tell but im wondering if there's a demand for it. I would certainly get one if it was ceramic.

In my opinion, I don't think so. This model looks quite like the original now, orange hand, steel bezel and all. Anyways, I think that would start to overlap the GMTII if they went ceramic.

However, on its 50th anniversary (2021), I definitely think there will be some changes...... Not only did it have its last refresh on its 40th anniversary in 2011, but practically EVERY Rolex model gets something for its 50th. A 32xx movement is obvious, but I'm sure there will be something aesthetic as well.

*before anybody uses a Daytona as an example going ceramic, I don't think it's the same. The ExpII has always had the steel bezel, whereas the Daytona has altered between steel and black acrylic since its inception.

If I'm betting I personally see it returning to a 40mm size before going with ceramic... But I'm hardly ever right which is Why I haven't won the lotto yet.

If so, Rolex would call it orange, but it would actually be yellow.

Since they call pink bezels red.

I agree, I can't see it happening but in a collapsing market where drastic measures need to be taken to lift sales, ie the opposite of now and foreseeable future.

Actually they call it rouge, which is termed as red colouring or wine red often, to give you the no payout insurance claim retort.

nope, it is perfect the way it is. Not everything has to be ceramic, variety is the spice of life.

I think a brushed grey ceramic insert would be cool, but the 216570 came out very recently (in "Rolex time"), so it's not going to happen for many years (if ever).

You really don’t think they’ll do anything for 50th anniv? I think if anything, that’s always a ‘for sure’ in Rolex time.

Well, that's three years from now, so, maybe, sure. Or, if the neo-vintage craze continues, maybe we'll get more of a 70s vibe. Or, maybe a better "floating" hands effect for the black (not shiny hand over matte dial)? Who knows. But, the movement will be probably be upgraded before then (the movement changes aren't "50th anniversary" quality, IMO).

I really hope Rolex does not change the Exp 2 steel bezel.

I would love to see this happen. The current version would have been in the running for me if it had been 40mm.

I'm thinking yes at some point. They changed the Daytona, not sure why they wouldn't change the Exp II. The I with the steel is still in the lineup.
