REDUCED: Vintage Tudor ref. 9081/4 Prince Oysterdate JUMBO w/ WG Bezel

Up for sale is this great looking circa early 1970s Tudor ref. 9081/4 Prince Oysterdate with Jumbo 38mm steel case and white gold bezel in Excellent overall condition. This wonderfully oversized dress model shares the same case dimensions as Rolex’s 1019 Milgauss and features a handsome silver dial. It has a quickset 25-jewel ETA automatic cal. 2784 under the hood that was last overhauled about a year ago and so is operating flawlessly. It also comes with two fine straps, one a modern genuine black Tudor band with signed steel deployant clasp and the other a very cool thick gray suede strap. Vintage Tudors are great watches in their own right and strapping on this 9081 is like wearing a beefier 1601 Datejust.

The asking price for this great Tudor Prince Oysterdate is now REDUCED to $2185 USD OBRO including fully insured worldwide shipping. Bank Wire is always appreciated but Paypal is OK on this watch with split fees (+2% to the buyer). Payment must be made in US DOLLARS. Watch will ship upon full clearance of the funds, as well as any necessary bank vetting.

CASE & BACK: Jumbo size case measures 38mm wide (not inlcuding crown) x 46mm long x a surprisingly slim 10mm to the top of the crystal. It has been polished in the past and also shows residual marks from wear to the mirrored sides. Lugs remain thick, however, and overall the case is in Very Good+ previously polished cosmetic condition. 9081/4 model number and complete 815,k serial number, which dates to circa early 1970s, show minor wear but are still easily legible between their respective lugs. On the outer back the customary "Oyster Case by Rolex" nomenclature is very sharp and the knurling is undamaged with only some minor tool marks and superficial scratches visible — Excellent external cosmetic condition overall. The inner case lip and caseback are corrosion free and the inner back is without a model number, as is normal. It is stamped with all correct "Montres Tudor" nomenclature of the period as well as "C.R.S.," the same case manufacturer's signature found on the Rolex Daytonas of the mid 1960s to early 70s.

DIAL & HANDS: Beautiful original factory printed satin silver dial with applied Shield logo shows just a touch of minor spotting under a loupe. This dial has a very finely printed minute track, stepped date window and black enamel accents to the bar markers, as well as Tritium lume dots at their tips. The markers show some mild oxidation and the Trit dots show some deterioration but overall this handsome Tudor dial is in Excellent original vintage condition. Stick hands show only minor aging and their luminous fill matches the dial lume perfectly — likewise Excellent condition for the handset.

CROWN: Correct Rolex Twinlock crown screws down tightly, and pulls out to the winding, quickest date and hacking time setting positions as it should.

CRYSTAL: Low profile Cyclops crystal is very clean and clear with only the most minor marks — easily Excellent+ condition. The magnifier is strong and aligns with the date window perfectly.

BEZEL: Original oversized fluted white gold bezel appears unpolished and shows some minor wear from the years. Excellent condition for this large and attractive white gold bezel.

MOVEMENT: Powering this Prince Oysterdate is a hacking & quickset Tudor 25-jewel automatic cal. 2784 (ETA) with ball bearing rotor. Looking very clean and bright, this movement was last fully overhauled by my watchmaker in April 2017 and so is running well in all aspects — timekeeping, quickest date function, strong power reserve, etc. This is guaranteed to be the case at the time of shipping.

BANDS: As mentioned above this classic Tudor Jumbo comes with two lightly used straps: a genuine modern-era Tudor black leather band with signed steel Tudor deployant buckle and a thick handmade gray suede pilot style strap with generic steel buckle. This great oversized Prince Oysterdate has a 20mm lug width.

As a matter of policy I make no guarantees for the water resistance of this watch in any way, shape or form.

This great Vintage Tudor Prince Oysterdate is offered with a 3-day inspection period from the date of receipt and may be returned for a full refund (less any shipping costs incurred by the buyer). This refund is unconditional and once I get the watch back in exactly the same condition as it was sent to you, your money will be refunded. Of course, once the 3 days are over the sale will be considered FINAL.

Thanks for looking,
T.
