Ok..I wasn't a fan of that watch so I didn't really pay attention to it.

I guess it comes down to if the OP really wants one...

Winding the 5711 is like winding a watch full of grit / sand. It's horrible. It doesn't hack. But it looks nice....

I might do it for a 5712 w/ blue dial, but not for a 5711 - it's just too plain for my tastes.

It seems like a good trade if you had paid retail for the Daytona, LV, the Sea Dweller Red and you are getting a BNIB 5711 white. However it would be expensive to replace the Daytona and the LV if you regret selling those. I have a 5711 and I find it fragile compared to my Daytona and LV.

I would wait for your AD to deliver a 5711

Don’t do it.
Your 3 Rolexes are very nice,

As much as the PP is an icon, it would not worth your 3 watches, and certainly not the one dedicated to your sun.

I know Patek prices are off the charts like some Rolex but that doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

That trade is really not worth IMO. Not even close.
I had a 5712 but it did not stay long. A lot of forum hype that makes you think you want one, but the reality was ‘meh’ never mind the price point. Sonia got traded out fairly quickly.

Exactly this. The three you are suggesting trading are classic pieces. I wouldn't trade the two 50th anniversary references (Sub and SD) for the Patek.

I'd say "No, don't trade" and "Yes, you're mad; it's a daft idea."

These are ridiculous compromises at this price. The blue is plain gorgeous but I can't get over how Patek makes the die hard wis techy overlook these ((imo) faults.

I think it all depends on what you have in your collection. A 3:1 trade leaves a lot of opportunity for regret which I think is the hardest part. I let go of a few pieces when I bought my 5712 which was not easy to do. But I was very heavy in Rolex sport models and still have enough left in the collection that I don’t miss the ones I said goodbye to that much.

I said 'yes', simply based on the total values of your current SS rolexes compared to a $45k+ price of a 5711 (google search).

However,
I have not gained the maturity in WIS knowledge (yet) to appreciate Patek like others seem to do. Purely based on aesthetics and looks, I am still not a fan of Patek. In fact, when I go to the local AD that has Pateks as well as other brands, dollar for dollar I am more drawn to ALS offerings than Patek equivalents (in their dress watch).

My wife likes the rose gold Aquanaut and perhaps someday we will get it for her, but I have seen it in the wild, worn by a neighbor's wife (as she was walking her dog as we chatted a bit) but even in person didn't look like a $35k+ watch to me (but that was the attraction for the neighbor's wife, an under the radar watch.)

So would 'I' do it? No.
Should you do it based on current pricing out there? seems to be a yes.

No way. For a bunch of reasons, one of which is you bought the SD43 for your son. I’d stay put.

Daft idea? 3 S/S Rolex for 1 PP 5711 White?

My suggestion: don’t. I have traded 2 for one to get a PM Rolex and that did not last. Is one watch enough for you? I imagine you will be left with more than one, but it’s something to consider if that’s the case. If you are like me, one watch is not enough and once the shine wears off your eye will find another. Agree it’s a bubble and quite a bad time to chase that piece. Save the SD for your boy. Hold tight and save$. I did. Now I have several to choose from, including the PM I originally wanted.
