First let me say that for quite a while I've been toying with the idea of adding a PANERAI to my collection. I've tried a bunch of them on and honestly admired the way their 44 mm offering not only fit, but seemed to "blend" into the wrist. (I know silly discription).

As fate would have it my AD recently got one in that really caught my eye. As a fan of GMTs this one gave me everything I wanted in my first Panerai.

The watch orginally came with a brown croc. strap that while very nice just didn't call my name. My AD was kind enough to swap it for a black leather strap with big buckle for me, fit the rubber strap that I honestly liked the best and the deal was done.

Let me introduce the newest member to the clan..

The LUMINOR GMT 088.

I haven't seen a COSC cert come with a watch in quite a while....kinda nice,

Of course the required lume shot,

and wrist shot,

and box shot,

Threw in a nice key chain,

As well as a PANERAI Tee-shirt and the "matt" I used for the photos is actually a HUGE coffee table magazine full of great photos and history of the marque.

I can't wait to get my official "Darkside" membership card!

It really is astounding the amount of Rolex owners who also get a Panerai, it's not a case of swapping over, they have both. I love the GMTs, the hands, dial and look is very nice and this one is definitely on the list of next to buy.

So anyway, this leads me to another question, if we can get another couple of moderators to move over to the darkside can we rename this website

I have always been extremely impressed by your Rolex collection and definately the nicest I have ever seen. Is this your only non-Rolex or do you have others?

Mike, currently this is the only non-Rolex in the bunch. I've had several Omegas (another brand I have a lot of respect for), but Panerai has been on my radar for a while now. The brand has a great history and a wonderful "loyalty" of paneristi that I fine so refreshing.

I admit I'm not as up to speed yet on all things Panerai as I'd like to be, but the fun for me in this hobby has always been in the learning.

I don't think my 88 will be an "only" child.

A few months from now you'll have a PAM GMT, 8 day, chrono, base, 4 radomirs and will be laughing at people wearing 'girlyman' Rolexes
