Why do posters do this? They com eon here with a highly questionable watch, make some comments, get LOTS of feedback and disappear. If the OP was truly serious, you'd think he'd be commenting on some if this. Sure looks like a troll.

This OP’s story was sunk at the start, but I’m still surprised it took several posts to call it. But here’s my take in general:

many use this and other watch forums as a test-bed for their lingo and story to see if it can pass the smelltest and build online capital. Eventually using this as a reference to say ‘hey! The Rolex forum says it was fine’ etc... and then making off with a score.

and also, this forum is free. So, ya...

Still a great place but everyone needs to be extra careful these days.

Looks all way off, Lec is too noticeable, the dial is "Swiss Made" with maxidial plots, the date 3 is off, the watch crown is generic and wrong size.

"inherited watch from dead grandfather" = bought a fake watch and want to test the authentic Rolex owners to see if it will fool them, because If it does, it means I can wear it and not be called out in public for wearing a fake.

No it does NOT mean "="

1) We do get genuine "inherited" watches - albeit a low (5%)

2) Sometimes the OP genuinely does not know - he comes here to 'politely' ask. Probably 35% (guestimate)

3) Genuine fake 'scammer' - true probably 60%

But it does NOT mean ALL people are fake or known fake. And sadly people come the this sub-forum and attack everyone whether genuine OR 'no-idea' versus true known fakes!

Lets treat people with politeness and 'benefit of doubt' and just 'judge the watch and not the poster'

x2 The fake watch buyers of today are tomorrows fake watch owning grandfathers, whose grandchildren will want to know how much their grandfather's fake watch is worth. With respect though 'benefit of the doubt' just effectively evaluated this fake POS.

Agree.

Most people couldn't tell a Rolex from a Timex. They just aren't educated on the subject. They assume a watch with the word Rolex on it has a chance of being real.

There is no reason to be a douchebag to people asking for a check. Follow the example of David (crowncollection). If it's fake he politely says so. He doesn't insult or demean people. He also doesn't pronounce fake unless he is certain, and his expertise is beyond reproach.
