My 168000 has a 16800 dial, increase or decrease
I bought a rolex 168000 and just figured it has a Rolex 16800 dial.
Does that increase the total value of what I am holding or decrease the total value of what I am holding ? Thanks guys ! |

I was not aware of a difference since the movement was the same....just a different steel case.....how can you tell?

My 168000 has a 16800 dial, increase or decrease
I googled extensively and of the numerous threads I read. 99% says 168000 only comes in WG surrounds.
That same photo is also the only one I saw that suggest the model comes with a matte dial. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

168000 came with a glossy dial. Matte dials were long out of production for the 168000.
Someone obviously changed the dial.

Not white gold surround dial. I was in a similar dilemma days ago. Due to reason stated by fellow members above I decided against it.

Agreed. I have a 16800 from 83, guess one of the final years with the matte dial. Even if, say, there was indeed a 168000 with a matte dial, it would make sense to see a Mk. IV dial, but I think someone replaced it for sure.

To answer the OP's question .... decreases. Any time a major part is not original AND is not even correct for the reference, it definitely hurts the value.
Assuming you want to keep the watch, I'd sell the current dial, which probably has decent value, and track down a correct dial. |

Could be re-lumed as well - it's a small image, but some of those plots look a bit dodgy.
