Sub inserts?

Hi all-
Just wondering if there's a way to cross reference inserts that might fit my 1987 168000 Submariner. I've been on the hunt for a little while for an age appropriate replacement but they're hard to find and cost prohibitive for my purposes (and wallet). I have however seen inserts for later watches are a little more plentiful.

I'm assuming that inserts from some later models might fit this watch but haven't been able to locate any kind of cross reference material to confirm that.
