Question for FP pros out there

Hello ladies and gents,

I am curious as to the way to store an FP that won't be used for a little while. I am specifically talking about my MB 146. I use my MB Legrand BP more then anything and I had some ink in my FP the last time I used it and when I took it out of the case I keep it in the in window seemed clear so I was curious as to where the ink had gone. I filled three cups with water and decided to clean it out in the way that I would when switching ink colors until the water came out clear.

If I am not planning on using the FP for a bit, should I just store it cleaned out with no ink? With the piston up, down? Im not sure what is best to keep it from having any issues when I do decide to refill it. Thank you in advance.

Do a good flush and put it away out of direct sunlight. The ink went with the baby down the plughole.

Hi there,

Best thing to do is the step you already took, cleaning it with water.

Just store it as you would when in use, with the cone completely closed meaning the piston is not near the window.

Best is as said previously to keep it away from direct sunlight.

If I may add, go to an official Boutique if you can and have it cleaned locally, they should do so free of charge.

At the same time you might request some cleaning cartridges, should also be free, for any future endeavors.

This will clean it more thoroughly when either changing ink or storing it over a longer period.

I store my pens with a little bit of water in the tank. If it's a cork it will not dry out. Champagne lasts many years when stored. The corks are wet, and don't shrink or dry out. Pens are the same.

Modern FP are all "precious resin" aka plastic.
No need to store with water (I think it will leave lime scale if that dries out)

Just empty the ink and flush it and leave it empty is how I do it.

Understood. I should have stated I store with a bit of water, when there is a cork involved. I have more vintage pens than modern.
but....
Not all modern pens are resin. Many are celluloid, in the higher end.
