Your Rolex and your PWS

PWS = Personal Weather Station. I've always been a closet weather nerd but just recently raised my nerd flag (and PWS) on our deck. I got the Ambient Weather WS-2902A as a starter unit and put it up fast and dirty. I will replace the pole with a larger one, more solid, and anchor it properly. I moved it a couple of times to locate it in a place that gets sun, average wind for the area, and a WiFi connection. Initially it would not connect to my WiFi. I realized it was blocked by the grill on our deck. Duh! The tablet displays all the readings in realtime and is mobile. A/C adapter and batteries so you can leave it on your desk or table, or you can carry it around the house. All in, about $170 on Amazon.

Pretty cool, I’ve never really thought about doing this before but it looks like a fairly straight forward set up and fairly low cost of entry to get the hobby going

Definitely. Ambient Weather's setup app sucks, but it eventually works. You need the smartphone app to register your station so you can monitor it from the Weather Underground app.
