Next time say Grand Seiko. If his ears perk up he's probably a WIS.

I'm wearing it for myself. The same reason i wear a rolex or a $14 casio.

The best thing about Grand Seiko is that I can wear it in my office without anyone asking for a raise.

I’m loving my new GS Snowflake! I’m also enjoying the fact how it flies under the radar, sometimes you want to wear something that only you will enjoy.

I think a GS is so much higher and better than a regular Seiko branded watch that I don't consider it in the same brand.

Edit: I've owned 3 Seikos

If someone notices your GS, you know the man knows what he's talking about and appreciates fine watches . 99% of Rolex in the wild are purchased by people who want you to know it costs 8000 dollars.... you see the difference?... Grand Seiko

Fantastic post --

Where I am, the conversation stops when I say Patek, Breguet, Vacheron, AP, OMega, really, the conversation ends with anything but Seiko, And Rolex...

The seiko elicits conversation as they proudly present the Seiko5 - (which I gush over because some of them have more pride in their department store watches than some collectors I've seen) - and the Rolex people respnd to because it's the only luxury/expensive watch they know...

usually the grand seiko - because it looks so shiny and impressive - gets the most response... usually the response is "Is that a Rolex?"...

once, while wearing the AP... someone said, "Can't you afford a Rolex?"

Like Churchill once said, "the best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter"....

this is why you must always buy what you love... and never think about the opinions of others...

I must admit, I've never gotten that one before.

I'm as proud of this Seiko 5 as I am of any watch I own.

It's not what a watch costs. It's all about what I like and I like what I like, regardless of what others think.

There are people who think that I'm crazy for wearing a Rolex and there are people who think I'm crazy for wearing a Timex.

Now, we here on TRF and other sites, know differently but we're just talking about general perception among the masses

Maybe because the Grand Seiko has all the real physical features of haute horologerie- outstanding appearance, finish of parts, dial design- so that a true connoisseur should be able to appreciate it as a very fine watch. It’s only people that would downgrade it because “Seiko” is in the name that wouldn’t appreciate it (and we all know they didn’t know what to look for).

It’s like how the Bobby Jones knit shirts used to be- great design, great material, no logo- most appreciated by people that recognize a really nice shirt.

I love the snowflake but it's always number 4 of my top 3 watches to purchase. I also feel like I should pull the trigger sooner rather than later as once more people learn about GS I think their prices will start to climb.
