Fair review. I wear mine doing everything short of SCUBA with no worries.

Its not like a 5402ST is cheap. The review has a few fair point. The rest is meh...

YES, the prices are insane. YES, I personally think it's overpriced based purely on the current resale market. However, using the funds to buy a 911 is a silly comparison. No one should buy a 5711 at the current market values and not have enough funds to buy themselves a nice sports car IF they so desire. Watches should not take away from enjoying life. This is like saying you can get 3 Camry and a vacation for a 911 so its not worth it. Silly.

It was silly and a pretty lame article to be honest. He wrote what we all know about its market value but to then go on to say he bought a used 911 instead was laughable. So instead of paying a premium for a 5711 which likely would hold its value or decrease down to MSRP at worst, you bought a car? A 997 911 at that?

At least he should have gotten the 4S or the Turbo.

PS: Thank god he did not get the 1st gen 996.

I liked the article. I don't think the choice of car diminishes it. I think his goal was to add more perspective, "you can even buy a Porsche for that premium".

Thanks for the share!

The article doesn’t provide any new insight but I don’t think it makes sense to rip him for buying a 997. I don’t know about you guys but I am always entertaining different ways to deploy my discretionary funds and they often include things like cars, watches, vacations and unmentionables.

To be clear, I was only poking with the 997 comment. My point was more about paying a premium for a watch that will likely hold its value better than a car, let alone a 997.

So as mentioned twice, the watch doesn't even hack people, now stop buying it.

Buying that 911 is a depreciating asset...whereas, if he used that money on a 5711, he can always resell later for at least the same amount if not more!

I already own the one that ends in 11 with four wheels, can't get my hands on the 11 for my wrist!

I really hope they discontinue this watch. Then I can trade it for a GT3 plus cash. A 997?!? What a plebe. /sarcasm
