Wouldn't be able to get past this experience personally. Would try to have them buy the whole watch and then source a new one myself. Have sold a number of watches due to things that have given them bad juju...

I was worried that it wouldn't feel "right", as it didn't at first and so I wasn't wearing it much with the replacement black bezel insert and the scratch on the dial.

However, I'm actually really enjoying the watch now and think it may be in better form than when I first bought it (particularly because it's got a fresh service now as well). My net investment in the piece went up maybe a couple hundred dollars through this experience (again, including service), so I'm happy with the outcome.
