From a financial standpoint I’m not sure it’s worth saving. I’m guessing it needs a replacement movement and dial...

The people who say ''go swim with it, it can handle it'', would this bother you if it happened to you? So is the risk worth the 5-10-15k USD in service costs, even if you are loaded?

Easy there. My guess is there is more to the story here on why this happened. And if you get your watch water tested based on AP recommendations by APSC, I do not see why something like this would ever happen.

I know. But even if you got a lot of money, are you ok and willing to take the risk or just leave the watch at home or in the safe? Or just get another one (forgetting about being emotional attached to a watch).

Who goes near or in the water wearing an AP. For the money they cost it’s nuts, unless of course you’re a “deep pockets” individual.

There are plenty of threads with people going into the water with their AP, I have done it countless times with mine. I just got my FC Diver back from APSC and leaving for Turks and Caicos on Sunday, I am wearing it with me and have every intention of wearing it in any body of water I enter.

The irony of this statement if you think about an AP diver, which was made to go in the ocean.

Oh an actual diver no problem, just these chronographs. Just looks way too tricky even if AP/Rolex/... says it's ok to use.

If AP say it’s ok then there’s no problem, if they rate a watch as 100m waterproof and it’s within its service window then I’m happy to swim with mine.

Not "deep pockets" but most my APs go in the water and my FC diver has been in the ocean many times including some vacation scuba diving. I pressure test all my watches regularly. I buy my watches to wear and enjoy. If they happen to get water damage I'll ether pay the bill or turn it in to insurance.

I agree that AP's can safely go into water, but typically if I can avoid it I will. I tend to use the WR rating as a guideline for safety than a reason to dip in with it. Don't really think twice with my Rolex though.

I do, I swim with my 15400 and 15707 all the time. I rather risk one of my time pieces due to water damage than theft from one of those useless hotel safes. Traveling without a watch is not a option, then I could pretty much give up watches all together... I spend 30% of my life traveling (work...).

It is rated to 50m water resistance though and AP have confirmed that this means that you can swim whilst wearing it.
