Hey Adrian...you guys made it...just!!

Hi Adrian,

In what was the first hour of sheer boredom and ball tossing, your captain managed to "Bend it like Beckham" and put one into the Ecuadorian goal to clinch a place into the quarters for team England!!

And now I'm off to catch at least the first half of the live telecast between Holland and Portugal before pushing off to work!! The winner of this match meets England in the quarters.

All the best, Frans...I know you must be glued to your telly!!

Bye for now, guys!!

JJ

As I predicted, Orange are out in the second round. I feel sorry for some of the younger players because the deception must be great. (By pure chance I happen to know Robin van Persie personally). But if not now they would have been kicked out in the semi-finals. Just not up to scratch. Tomorrow will be one more painful day as the Germans will have a field day (again). My 3 favourites are: Brazil, Germany and Argentina. But my World Cup viewing days are over now.

Sorry for the way you guys went out of the tournament, Frans. It ended up as a very rough game with red cards being issued like friggin' confetti!!

England now have a very tough game on their hands when they meet Portugal.

Adrian, England should start playing their natural game. I think the injury to Owens has been a big psychological blow to them. They still have excellent players in Rooney and Joe Cole!!

Good luck - JJ

Well I have put a shot gun to my tele, bloody football, boy do I hate bloody football. Even one of the wifes favourite programs was cancelled last night, guess why bloody football.Twenty two overpaid tossers, kicking a bag of air filled leather around a grass field. When all that grass could be used for nice flock of pretty sheep.Or played on by real men with the correctly shaped oval ball.

If one reads carefully between the lines, because your message is very subtle, one gets the feeling you don't like football. Am I right in this?

Not exactly, Frans! What our Padi is trying to say is that he loves football but with his balls squeezed in a bit!!

This effin World Cup is like marriage. It goes on too long, it's boring, and you don't always score.

Congrats to the Brits. They certainly seem to have the knack to get it done. It would be fun to see them make a push a bit further in. I only hope they dump the 4-5-1 and get another striker up front.

Too bad to the Dutchies, I was really pulling for them. They are young though, in four years they could be a real force.
