Newbie needs help with OP 39mm
Currently buying a watch for my son.....was all set betweeen the blue or rhodium OP39. , here is my question.... is the white/black any more desirable because of the lume on all the numbers? Also , would a white dial watch be appropriate in formal occasions as well as casual? Any advice/ opinions would be helpful

Personally I think the new white dial is one of their most versatile watches. The lume on all markers is deffo a big plus

No issue with white for formal; actually seems more appropriate and less sporty than the black, imho.

I'm biased but I'd say white 39mm is second close to none. I have nothing but praise for it.

If I'm buying an OP its white dial.
If your set on blue or rhodium I prefer the blue.... with that being said, get white. |

Blue would be my choice.
Also more popular I believe

Called my AD and friend about BLRO. He had gotten one in that morning's delivery with my name on it if I wanted :) I would buy another OP white to add again when feasible.

This being said, I also like the more consistent look to the hour markers on the 2018 models. But the main goal, imho of course, is to purchase the watch that will provide the most enjoyment over the most amount of time. Good luck and let us know the outcome! Kind regards, -Rick. |

I opted for the rhodium. Was deciding between the black and rhodium. But in the end I thought the full lume stripes on the black were too busy. I don't really use the watch in the dark so lume wasn't really necessary. The black dial in itself is gorgeous though.
What I liked about the Rhodium dial is that depending on the light you can have shiny sticks, normal looking or almost invisible sticks. Readability is a bit better on the black one but not really an issue for me. |

I would recommend black because it is more readable. White with lots of light makes it difficult to decipher

I think Rolex has done a great job with the white and black dial OP39. I honestly wouldn't have considered this watch before with the various colors. I wasn't a big fan of the color. Simplicity is the best for me and you can never grow tired of a white or black dial.
I would go white dial for the OP39. If you are considering the black, I would go for the Explorer 1. Love the 3,6,9 dial. And the clasp is one of my favourites. Cheers! Your son is lucky either way! |
