Adding a 5 digits to a collection
I am thinking about chasing after a Submariner from the early 2000 to compliment my soon to come ceramic Submariner with date. There is lots of it around without boxes and papers, should I better off waited a bit longer and go after one that come with everything ? I am NOT planning to sell it.

If not selling, it's more important to buy the buyer vs. having a full set.
If I may ask, why another Sub while you have a Sub incoming? |

If you already have a SubC coming, get a 16600 SeaDweller.

Personally I’d add a 16710 so you have a gmt and a sub.

The incoming sub is a ceramic, but I kinda liked the look of a 5 digits too.

Does your SubC know how lonely it will be?
If you are going 5 digits might as well get the best and make sure it has drilled lugs! I’m partial to this one: Or make use of those drilled lugs |

Just got a 5 digit a few weeks ago. They wear incredibly well. Much sleeker than the current Ceramic references.
If your incoming SubC is a date, get a 5 digit with no date or get a GMT. Drilled lugs. Leather strap. |

I prefer the proportions of the five digit references.

How would you differentiate between the different generations? I think 4/5/6 digit is the most easy and accurate way.
