Screwdriver Size (in mm) for Oyster Bracelet

Hi,

I want to buy a quality watchmaker’s screwdriver to be able to remove links from the oyster bracelets on my 36mm Datejust and a 114060 Submariner. Looking for someone to advise on the size I need for the best fit to the screws, please?

Oyster is 1.60mm. Technically it's 1.70mm but that's a non-standard blade size.

Current 20mm/21mm Jubilee is 1.40mm.

On a side note, watchmaker's screwdrivers need the tips blunted to work correctly in Rolex bracelet screw heads. They come sharp from the factory but need profiled to work in a specific screw, otherwise they'll cam out and mar the head. It's one watchmaking tool that isn't ready to use out of the box. Search online for "sharpening watchmaker's screwdrivers" for more info.

Of these three we like the bergeon the most



We prefer to modify the 2mm first by making it a hollow ground and making it more narrow (1.70)

The ones for jubilee have a sharper tip the oyster a broader tip

I noticed the older 1.40mm Jubilee screws have thinner slots where modern ones are the same as the 1.70mm Oyster. I'm in the process of making a jig to hollow grind blades on three Bergeon drivers (1.20, 1.40 and 1.70mm) that will be dedicated only to Rolex bracelets. Fun stuff!

The jig? I still need to fabricate it. I just moved my mill and need to reinstall and tram the vise. Hopefully in the next week or two I'll make it happen.

Or you can buy the SD toolkit, the screwdriver there is hollow and perfect size for both vintage and modern screws.

I still have two of them that came free with the 16600 I bought new 15+ years ago. But, they don't fit Jubilee screws whatsoever and doesn't solve what the OP needs for his Jubilee bracelet.
