Fine with jeans. Don’t sell the Sub! You will regret it!

I’ve worn my dad’s fluted jubilee and it doesn’t feel right with casual clothes. My blue fluted on oyster, however, feels great with everything.

Yeah, it'll look fine. While the DJ is dressier compared to some other Rolex models, it's still a sporty watch in an oyster case on a metal bracelet. This is not a dress watch by traditional standards.

Imo you cant do DJ without fluted / jubilee... has to be. Just wear it. It'll work everywhere.

I wear a DJ41 and DD40 with casual stuff. It's a watch, no- one else cares. So, if you like it, wear it.
The strange thing is, unless you are a deep-sea diver, these watches are just as useable as any Rolex 'sports watch.' All Oyster Perpetuals are.

Looks awesome on you! It's an ultimate configuration for me. Works with everything and still looks more sophisticated than SubC.

I was going to say the same thing. I’m a huge fan of the DJ, but it’s not a real dress watch by traditional standards. It’s a sporty casual watch. Looks great with jeans.

Could not agree more. And as stated by others it’s not actually a dress watch but can be used as one. It’s sporty elegant and sharp. Can go up and down the dress code. Perfect with jeans or a suit.

I wear mine at the office and on weekends. I only leave it off when playing sports, pool, beach. For that I have a Seiko.

I think the smooth bezel works better with casual clothing. IMO.

You can't see them, but I'm wearing jeans right now. I prefer the sportiness of the smooth/oyster combo.

I picked up my first Rolex just this week, DJ 41 blue, smooth, oyster. It is identical to the one in the photo in the post above. I also rarely wear a suit. I thought that the combo was a non sports watch "sporty" look and would be appropriate for my typical casual attire. I also think that it will not look out of place with sports jacket or suit. That being said...all of the combinations are sharp and will suit you well whichever one you choose.

It works and it’s a great watch. Sometimes I just get in modes where I want something different. Unfortunately or maybe I should say fortunately I am petty financially responsible no debt etc and right now just not in the cards to have exactly what I want. Ideally I would love to add the two I listed and keep the Sub but not at this point maybe after the kids are through college or I get a big chunk of cash

Thank you all for the advice I would go smooth bezel and I am starting to like the jubilee more.

I might go to an AD and see what they have to try on they always have DJ’s in stock

Get a DJ 41 blue stick dial
Get a Panerai Luminor base(used to have a Pam 1940 and regret selling a little but I want crown guard now)

I would then need to add a little cash but not as much as as keeping the sub and getting the Pam.
Imho the DJ will be more universal for jeans to suit. Have SS SkyD blue and it goes with virtually everything imho. DJ and SkyD are more reserved / modest. PAM is bold and sub is a great watch, yet its a sub look.

Oyster bracelet works better for casual. Oyster with fluted gives the best of both worlds in my opinion as far as balancing dress and casual situations.

You can wear it with everything.
It's a very versatile watch.
