Need help in making the right purchase of Day Date

Hi Everyone,

So I am getting ready to get my first Rolex day date and looking for some genuine advice. I am planning to buy my Rolex watch from an authorized dealer in Dubai or so.

What are some of the ways I can make sure that the new watch they are selling is real and not a fake. Are there any posts which I can use to make sure it is a real one.

Are there some things which are only with the new Rolex which the fake ones can't have?

I am just nervous because I have heard that the Chinese markets are even making fake cars now so watches are a very small thing.

PS. If this post is not in the correct place feel free to move it. A newbie here please help out and guide with your experience.

If you are buying from an AD listed on the Rolex website, you have nothing to worry about.

I'll be the third person on this forum to tell you, if you buy from an authorized AD, you will not get a fake Rolex.

If you're that worried about it, perhaps a Rolex isn't for you.

I wouldn't even worry if buying from AD in China. As long as its off the Rolex website locations. Don't worry, just enjoy your experience at an AD if you got the funds.

Well, as an aside I’ve heard stories of employees in China swapping fake handbags in luxury boutiques. Probably not happening for watches, but I can’t trust China

Yes, that’s what I was getting at when I did this OP. But people seemed too optimistic. And hence I was asking to figure out if there was a way to tell

dubai is not china ... but if you are so worried about this then why not buy from an AD in europe or north america then? unless you think ADs everywhere can be selling fakes then i don't know what to say. i feel incredibly silly even entertaining this argument lol

if you're that worried, buy from the Rolex boutique in Dubai mall, the flagship store of Dubai.

Go to this building and ask them to prove that their watches are real. They should have ways of removing any fears you may have.
Please let us know what they say. I'm interested to hear how they respond

To be clear on what everyone is saying.....just check the Rolex website to make sure whoever you purchase from is Authorized. Also buy new not used. Then you are 100

Don't forget that the platinum DDs are more accurate than the gold ones.

This. This is a bit more than being cautious.

I’d buy local. I don’t see any advantage to buying overseas even with the Forex, or peace of mind.

When you get back to Canada, there’s also taxes.

Enjoy this experience.

I believe that was a joke. Buy in CA; some of the better pricing on Rolex is there IIRC. Not certain what the advantage would be for Dubai. There is very little chance that Rolex ADs would risk selling fakes. They could lose everything for that.

Buying from an AD in Dubai, if you have to rank them, is probably the safest place on the planet to buy from.

There is very little, if any, crime and the penalties are Draconian.

OP. Have no fear from buying in Dubai from an Authorised Dealer. None at all.

You may find it cheaper to buy at home, however so check prices before you go

Yes, go to ADs and get used to the weight of gold v steel, difference is huge about 33% extra weight, so you know it's real gold and not plated.

No issues from an AD. I would probably buy from my own country unless the prices would make it more advantageous to buy else where. An AD in Canada will be able to help you and you could start a relationship that could entail other watch option purchases in the future.

Would buy this watch locally and use the purchase to establish a relationship with your local AD, in case you may want one of the more difficult to obtain watches in the future. You may also get a discount locally to offset the Dubai advantages.
