How and where can I beat the AD waiting lists?
I'm in the market for a new GMT 2 Batman from an AD. Everywhere I called seems to have a waiting list that is at least a year long. Now, since the demand is clearly overwhelming the supply (even if this equilibrium is achieved artificially) I'm assuming some people on the lists are selling their GMT2 for a profit. If I were to purchase off a flipper, how much over sticker would I be looking at? Or how much over sticker would be reasonable to pay?
Thanks. |

Thats subjective. Check the for sale section for prices. They seem to be a few K over MSRP. It's ultimately up to you how badly you want it and how much you wan to spend. Good luck and happy hunting.

How and where can I beat the AD waiting lists?
I would suggest that you check DavidSW (https://davidsw.com/) and AkaTakuya (http://www.takuyawatches.com/). Both are reputed sellers on TRF and I've bought two watches from DavidSW. Of course, take a look at the For Sale section at TRF as well to get a good ball park.
Last I checked it was 2k above MSRP but prices fluctuate all the time due to supply/demand... |

You will have trouble gaming the system. The system tends to game you.
Either be very patient or pay over list.....new around $12500, used $10500 |

If you want to beat AD waiting lists - you gotta pay the gray market price. Only you can decide if that market price is fair........
So what would be a fair market price I hear you say?? DYOR and the market price will be evident.

Seems to me that the average new in box GMT Batman goes for about $1,500-$2,000 dollars over MSRP. Is this correct?

Likely buying from an AD with a small seller base (small market). This means mom and pop shop in a rural or relatively rural area. The Grays are just ridiculously expensive! If going gray get the best deal you can find.

The cheapest one prolly $10.5k and the most expensive one usually from one of the known gray dealer about $12k. But not that many new one around $10.5k out there.

$10.5K for a good used one isn't that bad really, with tax a new BLNR is already $9.8K.

A little off-topic, but interesting to see how DavidSW's prices have "adjusted" since the initial Basel frenzy. The WG BLRO has settled back down to $26K (from a high of $30K+) and a mint CHNR is basically fetching what a new one with tax costs ($15.5K). All in all, great news for potential buyers and all the more reason to have a little patience.

I guess that would depend on what you are willing to do?
