I agree with Mike. Very sound advice. Remember, the price of the 5270P May fall so wait and see.

Definitely the 5270 salmon. That dial is truly special and I can't wait to see you doing macro shots on it!

There is certainly no right or wrong answer and it really depends on the watches and dials you love. Value retention is a separate topic and it will favor the already discontinued watches.

No one knows how long Patek will produce the 5270P and/or if they will release other color dials. But they already have the black dial 5271P with diamond bezel and my educated guess is that they will come out with (an)other colored dial(s).

They have very little in common and are both excellent. If you can afford the 5270p, buy both. If this is an exercise in self control, buy neither

I much prefer the 5170p plus 3940p to the 5270p. If it was vs the 5970p, I’d go that way

The 5170P.
My favorite Patek on strap under 250k.

Salmon dial is pretty much the nicest watch I've ever seen.

3940 is one of my all time favorites, so I’d go with the 5170p + 3940p. If it were me I’d sub the p for the 3940j. Or if you wanted to extend the budget a bit more I’d go 5170p + 3970, which is probably one of the very few watches I’d put over a 3940

I would do it. I really like salmon dials with Pt. I prefer 5970P like many here but the 5270P is really cool if you want a new piece from an AD.

No bad answers here! I would sooner have the 5170p and 5970p in the stable before getting the 5270p. I also believe the latter may well be available below retail soon enough.

5170 not the p though and a 5140g.

While I like the 5270, I find it counter intuitive to have a manual wind Perpetual Calendar Watch. Perpetual <> Manual Wind for me.

Which would you choose in this scenario?

Which “PCC” would you prefer? A This or That...

It is very hard choice, they all look fantastic. I am not so keen about 3940p looks-wise. The 5170p is the best looking followed by the 5270p IMHO. But the 5270p with salmon dial and that fantastic movement is ways more special and will provide the best satisfaction everytime you will put it on the wrist. So by a very tiny margin, I would choose it over the 5170p+ 3940p.

As usual the car analogy; would you own and drive a Pagani huyra ( or Bugatti chiron) or a Porsche 911 gt3 and a lambo huracan?

The GT3 and the Huracan, but I also chose the 5170P & the 3940P
