Baggage Excess Value Insurance

Has anyone purchased this from the airline for international travel?
I have been reading that US airlines pay peanuts, pennies to the lb, average 50 lb bag, $150, for the baggage.
I purchased travel insurance but it is limited to $1,000 per insured.
A link I read says my airline charges $2 per $100 extra insurance.
From what I read, if there is a loss, they will require all receipts (most of which I can get from CC) and will depreciate the heck out of your stuff.
Wondering if in the end, it’s worth the expense or in the event of an unlikely complete loss of luggage, be afforded some extra coverage.

I would simply advise against checking expensive stuff. Baggage loss is extremely rare - but can happen. I've recently had my luggage lost at Heathrow for 2 weeks - though they did find it after all

Baggage is usually covered by regular travel insurance - mine comes through my card provider and they have always been amazing when I’ve needed to make a claim.

I have Amex insurance, it is up to 3000 euros, then I have an additional 30K travel insurance from my homeowners to cover watches, but it really covers whatever item while traveling.
