Just in! Rado x The Rake & Revolution. Captain Cook “Ghost Captain”

Introducing the Rado Captain Cook “Ghost Captain”. A broad arrow into my collection! This is a Rado x The Rake & Revolution collaboration with 150pieces made (Mine is #123/150). I love everything about the 37.3mm Captain Cook that was released at Baselworld 2017, with the exception being the brown sunburst dial. Brown doesn’t really resonate with me for some reason. So when I saw this interpretation last month, with a matte grey ceramic bezel and grey dial (which is domed/“Piepan”-like and enveloped by a double-domed sapphire) to evoke and kindle the spirit of dive watches that have been bleached out by saltwater, I was sold.

The stark white indices and hands, when juxtaposed against the matte grey dial, exudes a very smooth monochromatic vibe. The impressive 80hr power reserve and the further addition of the red touches from the swirling anchor (adorned on top of a pinkish-reddish sunburst backplate) and the red date really did it for me. One of the best things about it is that it’s priced the same as the one released last year 👍. A cool little bonus is that it comes on 3 different straps too. So far, initial impressions are super positive and I’m very mesmerized by this little charmer. Highly recommend to check it out!

Looks cool, congratulations!

Does the rotating anchor serve any purpose? At first I thought it was a compass but I understand it simply rotates under its weight.

That's a great vintage looking watch and a great value. I considered getting the brown one myself, but I already have too many watches competing for wrist time.

Looks amazing, a fantastic watch! I'm also curious about the anchor. How does it function?

Sorry for the late replies! Yes the anchor swirls and moves around depending on the watch orientation/gravity.
