116520 Dilemma
Purchased a black dial 116520 Daytona 4 years ago. In a dilemma now if i should sell it to purchase a GMT or a Submariner and invest the extra amount. I see that the used prices of a 116520 are approximately $22k SGD now. I purchased mine at $14-$15k.
Any advice? |

The 116520 reference are appreciating in price. It depends, if you no longer wear the watch or the watch gets very little wrist time then you could take advantage of the appreciated price and sell it, then purchase the GMT or Submariner. You should try on the SUB and GMT to see which one you really like.
I would keep the 116520 and purchase the Submariner. |

This sounds about right. 116520 was going for about 12-14K SGD in 2015, and now for 21-23K.
Which sub/gmt are you thinking about? 6-digit ones wear noticeably larger. On the other hand, 5-digit ones also appreciated a lot in recent years in Singapore. I am not sure what I would do. What are you planning to "invest" the difference in? Based on current prices, you will get away with 5-10K SGD depending on which sub/gmt you will get. |

Make the decision based on the watch you want the most, leave the other things to one side.

I wear my 116520 on weekends and an apple watch on weekdays. I am a associate that just graduated from university so I am trying not to attract too much attention at work to my wrist lol. |

Wear the 116520 to work less conspicious than a ceramic Sub and gets you more respect points if you're after that thing.

If you're a collector, I would keep the 116520. Truly a brilliant reference.

I'm glad you wrote SGD; I almost laughed at thinking USD. It's your call; it depends on how much you value the cash!!! I sold most of my watches recently and traded in on a grail.

Here’s your answer right on. If you no longer wear it much you can take advantage of the situation and buy the watch you want. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
